Ever since the early 2000's, the music industry has been facing the worst time ever. Thanks to the rise of free music sharing programs, many of the top record companies are not generating the revenue that they once were before the free mp3 files craze took over the internet.
In the early 90's, most of the major labels were enjoying high record sales due to the demand of new music releases. Many of the artists were selling out huge show tickets and selling a great deal of merchandise on the road. All this was made possible by the record sales they were generating for the major labels which many of the top music executives thought would last forever. This however, came to an end once the people that actually went out to buy music every Tuesday found out that they can get their hands on free mp3 files from their favorite artists through the internet.
Many of the top record labels didn't like the fact that everyone can get access to their music releases for free so they decided to wage war on the very people that used to buy their cd's every Tuesday, by suing them for all the free mp3 files they could find on their computers. This obviously didn't sit well with their core consumer base since they felt that mp3 music files should be available to them for free.
It's easy to understand why the major labels would be upset with the use of their music as free mp3 files on the web, but many people are begining to wonder if the record industry even cares about the products they are putting out. It's no secret that many of the music releases coming out these days, are not as good as they used to be and it makes sense to download one or two free mp3 files from each of those releases. This is something that many people find useful since they mainly find one or two good songs from each of those releases.
